Our Creative Director meets so many inspiring, creative women on her travels & wanted to share their stories to help ignite your love for all the good things in life. Atrue go getter, Alex has paved the way for women in photography in Melbourne. With many young women that look up to her, as she shoots her way through numerous creative industries. Known for her music, BTS of fashion week & street style photography, this brunette beauty is a true inspiration for anyone with goals at living the freelance life across many genres. 


What do you love most about being a woman in your area of business?
I think I just love how far we’ve come… I used to feel an inequality in numbers, & really struggled to prove myself in what USED to be a heavily male dominated scene… but now in 2020 I don’t really feel like it’s a thing. There are females in both fashion + music sharing amazing visual stories. GO US!
 
What did you dream of becoming when you were a little girl?
A concert pianist.

What advice would you give aspiring females wanting to get into your field?
Get a mentor, be humble + leave your ego at the door.
Learn about LIGHT… & I mean really become obsessed with it.
Develop a great work ethic. Being a photographer is much more then being able to take beautiful photos. You also need to know how to run a business.

Best hidden gem in Melbourne?
Alimetari, Third Drawer Down & Modern Times

Must have pieces you love in your house?
Just received the most beautiful set of champagne saucers from a vintage shop in Paris. So shallow + peach in colour. So gorge.

What do you love most about your city?
How multicultural & diverse it is, lucky to live in a city that loves food, wine & music.

What inspires you on the daily?
I’m inspired by PEOPLE. MUSIC. LIGHT. FILM. STORIES. NATURE. ADVENTURE.

Something you have done in life that you would encourage others to experience?
Travel. Travel. Travel. Be uncomfortable & get perspective. It’s the greatest life lesson.… & like I mentioned before, find yourself a teacher. Someone you feel is out of reach, whom you respect & who has a world of knowledge ready to share.

Best piece of relationship advice you ever received?
“I do not own you & you do not owe me anything. We are two separate beautiful souls traversing this life at the same time…”

How would you describe your style?
I’m a true Gemini. Each morning I wake up as either Girl Alex or Boy Alex.
I think my style reflects this. Either super androgynous/ tom boy with no makeup, or an A frame dress, heels & a lick of mascara.

Worst fashion moment in life?
Oh. I have so many. I did the Spice Girl thing, & got snap pants from Target in like year 4…. I did butterfly clips. I did the bali braids. I also did the fleuro + the sweat bands for festivals. Please don’t make me go on. Shuddering typing this people….

Favourite BOSKEMPER piece?

The Navy Palermo. I feel fab every time I wear it. I dress it up with boots for dinner, & down with sneakers in the studio.
